Ideally, a dinner should be the lightest meal of the day. A complete dinner meal should count to no more than 500 calories. Well, some meals can be slightly more or slightly less. The calories can be adjusted to make the total calorie count 1600 in a day. A balanced dinner would have sufficient protein, high quality carbs and veggies in the right proportion. When thinking about a healthy dinner, the meal should be of the right size, meaning the portions should be reasonable and not too large.
